As a black girl growing up I was always told I was less. Reasons for me being a girl and being black. The older I get the more my eyes have been opened and witness what it's like to be treated with disrespect, just because the color of my skin isn't right in someone else's eyes! Society has always put me in this box that is harder to break out of everyday. This is what is dear to my heart and is something that I'm passionate about

I think the topic you picked is a very good topic to focus on. I personally would have thought that it would be hard to find an article that is positive towards this subject because racism is looked at as being bad, but I think you did a really good job at finding articles to show pros. The article that talks about people coming together is a really good article to show pros. I like how it focuses on how people come together to prove that it's not right with how certain situations are being handled. I think you did a good job at what you picked.

One question I do have is, did it take some time to find an article that had pros, or did you already know that was what you wanted to show for your positive article

The reason I used this photo was to show how the media depicts a race as bad. Anything seen on the news we think it's true. One of our rights as humans is to be inform, which is why we have to take the extra step to know whats the actual truth. The media tells what they feel like is important and not the other side of the story

I really like this quote, because she points out the problem and how we as a nation need to fix it. Yes racism is going on, but we can change our views of each other and open our eyes. The picture you chose is a really good way of showing racism. I agree with you about how the media will basically try to show the worst side of someone, especially depending on their race. You're right when you said people will believe anything that is in the news. People should look at both sides of the story and not just assume that what they hear/see is right.

The culture cohort had a lot of similar comments. It seemed that everyone agreed that we can't be politically correct. The nation we live in is growing to large to be politically correct. Also diana mentioned how our government is built look a pyramid , which is something I agree with. We want to be equal, but we all seem to know thats not the best idea. No one wants to keep their opinion to themselves, we want to express our feelings.

I agree with your picture, the media manipulates the people's minds sometimes and makes some one look bad. I believe mike brown was wrongly killed and that it did have something to do with race. Thanks for the awesome pic

I agree with the picture you put about mike brown. The media gets there stories for the news but never tells the whole story, if you look at the left picture you would see that maybe mike brown was a thug or maybe a drug dealer but that the media never puts out there is that he graduated college. that young man had a degree and was going to be successful in the life the media made him out to be a piece of trash.

Yes racism will definitely continue to the next generation. People only see the color of others skin because it was taught in the house holds back in the 20th century but it derived from slavery. I doubt that we can completely change people's mind on slavery but all we can do is hope that over time racism wil no longer be existent.

People only see the color of skin because of pride. Some people see themselves as better than others which is being prideful. This is wrong, but it is human nature to be proud of who you are. People are racist because they feel that a person of different color may not be as good as they are. People that are racist are so consumed with themselves that they block out all those that they don't want to associate themselves with. Yes, I believe racisms will continue on to our next generation. Some people are just going to be hateful; that's just the way things are. Racism is very wrong because we are all created equal, but some people belive they are better than others. We can change people's minds by showing that we are all human beings. It doesn't matter what race we are; we are still people. To change someone's mind you have to be logical. You have to say something that makes sense.

I think people look at skin color because they have been taught that only certain skin colors are "good." From a young age, a lot of kids are taught that the lighter you are, the prettier you are. I think that when children are taught that, you're already setting them up to hate themselves/certain people. I think it's wrong to tell people that only certain skin colors are "good."

I think racism will continue no matter what. I don't think you can really change people's minds. If people are taught from a young age that certain skin colors are bad, then they'll most likely believe it. If they do end up believing it, they'll teach their children the same thing, which will continue the cycle.

Thuman brain loves to categorize our daily lives. Everything we see, we like to match it with something else. This allows for the human race to easily look at skin colors. I feel we will never truly reach a point with no racism unless we are all dead. Because of our love to categorize things I feel that if one person is hurt by another person of the alternate race then that can alter their view of the entire race.

For many years that's all we have seen. It will be a while before we will look pass skin color. If we continue to do and say what we are doing now then it will definitely continue into the next generation. Children learn from what they see others older and the same age are doing. I don't know if we can change everyone's mind, but the process of trying will be a good start.

I think racism will always be a problem of this country. Will it relate to a Solid South again? Probably not. What I mean by that is, we will never have Jim Crow laws again. But we will always have people that will label people because of race

I think racism will continue into future generations. Unfortunately it's very difficult to change people's minds about this, because most people were raised with these beliefs and will continue to raise their children with these beliefs. Some will realize it's wrong and change their way of thinking, and some will maintain what they were taught.

I think racism will always continue because that is how some people are going to be raised and some people will never change. I feel sorry about it but I think that is the truth. I think there is always going to be someone somewhere judging someone who is different than them based on the color of their skin. I think that is great though how some people in the world are accepting of any race and are trying to make a difference. Yet everyone is not going to be on board with not being indifferent to other races.

Racism will always be a contradictory thing. It will be an issue as long as people are alive and breathing and always have an opinion about who or what they feel is wrong or right . Racism can also be a learned character trait that was taught. Everyone is not going to agree with people are just people and the pigmentation of their skin has nothing to do with anything .

Racism will continue as long as it's still taught to children. No one is born racist. I believe it will continue, it's a vicious cycle that could possibly go on forever. The only way to stop the cycle is to stop teaching it. A lot of young people now are pretty open minded, maybe after 2 generations we will start seeing racism fade out.
