A catheter is inserted into the groin and threaded through the blood vessels to the aneurysm. Platinum coils are inserted into the aneurysm sac, which promotes blood clotting, sealing the aneurysm off from the bloodstream.

A craniotomy is performed to access the aneurysm, and a metal clip is placed across the neck of the aneurysm to block blood flow into the sac. The aneurysm is then sealed off, preventing rupture.
