The Highland games are competitions in Scotland they were fought to find the strongest and fastest men in Scotland, who would often become bodyguards and messengers or warriors for the king. Women are also allowed to take part in the Highland Games. They´re mostly in the scotish highlands but also in places where other scotish people live.The first world championship was in 1980.This world championship is attracting many tourists. The games are accompanied by backpipe music and traditionall dances. The most popular discipline is tossing the caber, wich is tree trunk throwing.
