-all of the movie posters use dark, dull colours in the main images such as black and grey, this portrays fear and evil which makes the images link to the horror genre and shows the audience that the films are dark and scary.
-the majority of the main images feature a large face in the centre of the poster, with something abnormal about it. For example, The Devil Inside, Insidious and One Missed Call all feature characters with eyes which are dark and staring, making the characters look possessed and glaring into the audience's eyes.
-some of the posters such as Shutter and Possession feature a distorted face, this again infers that the body has been over taken by an evil spirit which links to the horror genre and gives the audience an insight into the themes of the film.
Representation:
-From the posters, the audience can gain a representation of the characters featured. In The Conjuring Poster, the characters shown are a mother and child which are facing away from the camera on a rocking chair.
