L1 refers to the first language or native language. L1 teachers normally makes the work more complex than the teacher who uses the EMI, the EMI teacher makes the work simple and easy to understand. Native speaker's are obliged to learn an additional language such as English in order to be able to get ready for work life. English has become a previlagein the presence of a larger number. A lot of articles are in English and a lot of resources too.
