The Story The Catcher in the Rye Takes place in the early 50's and Follows young and troubled Holden Caulfield as he travels from boarding school to Boarding School and New York and Experiences different People and Events. The Story starts when Holden is kicked out of yet another Prep School, being mean and hurtful to some of the people. He is a very judgmental character, calling people phonies and judging them internalily while avoiding contact from most people. Staying a few nights in New York before he goes home to break the news about his failing grades, Holden goes through his life while remembering his true love, embracing his sexual attitude, and meeting and talking with other influential characters around the book. The Story is a true memoir on the teenage life and puberty on the young male human.

In the beginning, The Catcher in the Rye takes place in Pennsylvania at Holden's old school, Pencey Prep, but later in the story, the setting travels to New York City. The story takes place during a long weekend in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

Phoebe Caulfield is Holden’s younger sister that is one of
the few people that he doesn’t think is a phony

Stradleator is Holden’s roommate that is very cocky and
Holden doesn’t like him very much Allie is Holden’s little brother. He never makes an appearance
because he died before the story takes place, but he is mentioned often in the
book. 

Mr. and Mrs. Caulfield are Holden’s parents and they are
unaccepting of him and hard on him.
