Comparisons:
Progressivism- Guides students to own answers and understanding through experiments and questions. The teacher guides the students to their own goal.
Constructivism- The variety of materials allows for individuals to guide their learning by cooperating with other students. Focuses on letting the student decide how they want to be guided through the topics.

I will teach in a fun, hands-on, activity based way to keep learners engaged. I want to be able to keep the love and passion for learning alive in my students. 

Classroom organization: Students will be seated in clusters. I would put 4 desks in a group. I like having desks over tables to create the feeling of personal space. It teaches responsibility of ones area and helps the student to know something is theirs. Being in a cluster allows for communication and work time with others well. Each cluster will be placed in a way each student will be able to see the front board easily. 

Teaching style and lesson planning: I will use different bit and pieces from each philosophy. I feel each philosophy combined will create a dynamic and successful classroom. They all can go hand-in-hand with each other. I will create a daily routine, so the students know exactly what they should be doing. A lesson plan will be used, but strictly. It will act as a guidance for what I will be teaching each day. This will ensure that material is covered adequately. Student collaboration will be involved to develop relationships and knowledge of working well with others.

Student assessments and evaluations: My classroom where be a place where there are tests, quizzes, papers, and projects. All these assessments are great ways of students showing what they know to the teacher. It is a good way to get an understanding of where the learners are at and how the lessons were perceived. I will also hold self assessments of the students by individually meeting with them to see how well they are understanding the content. This time will allow for questions, comments, and/or planned help for each student. This one on one time is important to create a relationship between the teacher and student.

Motivation and management/discipline: I will have fun activities, games, and break times to help keep learners engaged. I also like the idea of having an extra credit assignment here and there for increased motivation. If the class gets out of hand, I want to have fun repetition words special to my class to bring the class back together. For example, 1-2-3 eyes on me, 4-3-2 eyes on you.

Classroom climate: The classroom will be bright and cheery. It will have many posters, cute sayings, and areas for students to go aside from their desk. I hope to have a relaxed classroom with clear communication and expectations between everyone. Learners can do anything they put their minds too. Students are full of potential and a teacher can use that for the better. An ideal educator is one who focuses on building strong relationships with students, then creates a bond of trust to hold students to high standards with engagement of course content. The assumption is that a teacher can be either a compassionate teacher or a rigorous teacher, but not both. There is also a belief that kids don’t want rigor. I believe this is false.

While teaching it is crucial to be both compassionate and rigorous. It’s what students need from us, and what they want. They want to reach high standards, and our compassion is an essential component to get them there.

I believe students should be pushed to create growth. In order for this to be done successfully an immense amount of support will be needed for the students. Teachers are creating a foundation for a child's future. They are imposing skills and knowledge for further schooling career, work life, and fundamentals of life. 

I want to be a teacher because I want to make a positive influence in a child's life. I want to build a firm foundation for children in their formative years of school. I have a passion for helping children and making sure they succeed. Being an educator will feed that passion. My caring, compassionate, loving, and warm presence will contribute to my classroom. I had the best experience in elementary school and I want to pass that on in my classroom. I absolutely loved my 3rd grade teacher. She inspired me to become a teacher. I know I can provide kids with a good education and memorable year in elementary school, which motivates me to become a teacher.

I like to have organization and direct instruction, but I also like to have more discovery/exploration based learning. I think when students can link topics to personal experiences is helps with engagement. I felt this way as I could apply what I was learning to my life.
