The code was sent to prepare for the colonisation of a planet. The code when ingested by micro-organisms changed their DNA and this occurred all the way up the food chain. The larger animals became very hungry and started eating each other. This was about 65m years ago when some feeble useless reptiles acquired the DNA and became hostile to each other eventually killing each other off in a short period of time. The DNA changed form over time and made the developing animal kingdom attack and eat the creatures that could not defend themselves rather than each other.
