I Don't Want To Fail!

It was today that I needed to take the English test, I studied everyday for 1 hour and still didnt feel like I was ready. After all, I do I have Atychiphobia. I said to myself “I’m probably just nervous”. On the way to school I made sure that I had all of my supplies ready for the test. When we arrived to school I checked my phone for the time. I yelled “Im late!” I quickly ran to my class and went in line just in time. When we got in to the classroom we all got seated waiting nervously for the test.

The teacher closes the door and grabs the tests. She begins to pass them out while I grab my materials. After she gave me the test she yelled “You may begin!”. I start the test feeling a little nervous. After doing a couple of questions I start to get the hang of it but then, I stumble on to question 8 and start to panic. I think to myself “What am I going to do!?” My arms and legs start to shake. It feels like the walls are caving in. I hear my teacher yell “2 more minutes!” I take a deep breath and decide to pinch myself to get back to focus. “ I got this” I whispered. Not knowing the answer I skip on to the next question and move on. After finishing rest of the questions I came back to question 8 and read to myself “What is a simile?” I think back to when I was studying yesterday and remember that a simile is similar to a metaphor. I read out all the answers in my head. “A: A literary device that uses when or what. B: A literary device that compares things with who and how C: A literary device that compares things with like or as D: A literary device that compares things with then and now.” Then I think to myself “If a metaphor means to compare with things that aren't actually real, it must be answer C! I got it ! I take a deep breath and circle in the answer in excitement. “Times up! Everyone hand it over to me” The teacher says.

I grab my test and hand it back to the teacher in excitement. Then, I go back to my seat waiting for it to be graded. As I wait nervously yet happily, I start doubting myself thinking that I got the wrong answers. I think to myself “If I get 1 question wrong it will bring me down to a B-! I CANT FAIL!” I relax myself and move on to another assignment while I”m waiting for my test. After I finished my assignment I turned it in and grabbed my chrome book to look at my grades for any missing assignments. “Phew” I said. I was glad that I didn't have any missing assignments.

I get out of my seat and go to the teachers desk and ask nervously if she is done grading yet. “Not yet. I will let you know when I have finished. Please go back to your seat.” she said. While I go back to my seat and whisper to myself “No need to be rude about it, I was just asking.” “What was that!?” the teacher yelled. I didn't reply and went to seated my seat in embarrassment. Moments later, she gets up out of her seat and begins to pass out the graded tests. Soon after she handed out some tests, I received mine. I close my eyes and slowly open them and see what I got. “YES, I DID IT” I yell in excitement. I got 100%! Finally, we all get excused and I thank my teacher and leave the classroom. I start jumping and shouting with glee. Because of my 100% I was brought up to an A+ in english.

Future Story

The year was 2055, and everybody had updated technology with people from flying cars to flying shoes. Everyone in the city was happy while my brother and I were trying to find where are parents went because they all of a sudden disappeared to who knows where! We were just trying to check out these new flying sneakers! Anyways, I'm currently taking my brother to the local police station so we can locate our parents. The last time we saw them was when they left the store without us. What great parents! I couldn't really believe our parents would just leave us like that! Unbelievable! When we arrived at the station we opened the doors and asked the front desk to call our parents to see where they went. When the police called our parents they didn't respond. So, I just hoped that their phone was dead. After the attempt to call our parents, the police asked us questions about how we got lost. We answered a couple of questions and stayed there until our parents would be able to be contacted and come back to us.

Story

Every chapter of Chains, by Laurie Halse Anderson, starts with a primary source excerpt that is somehow relevant to the chapter, and Chapter 22 is a great example of this, this is how the chapter started off. “ Whereas a bombardement and attack, may be hourly expected.” This excerpt explains how they were being attacked by the British. This next text explains how Becky was going to leave New York and go to Jersey if the British took over.“If God switches sides and allows the British to take New York, you’ll see me headed for Jersey, back pay or no back pay.Im not sitting here waiting to get carved into pieces by them beastly redcoats.” This is what Anderson uses in the excerpt to foreshadow that Becky may be leaving.

Dear, Mr. President

My name is Ethan La and I am a 13 year old boy who has been sent to a internment camp along with my family. After staying here for a couple weeks I have been suffering many problems such as back pains, difficulty with sleeping, limited privacy, and so much more. I have sent this to ask if you could possibly change the situation my family and I and many others are currently struggling with. To start off, when I sleep, the bed always screams and shakes when I turn about. The bed is also very hard and stiff. I cant even lay down without having my back cramping, and that is not even the worst part! Sometimes when I sleep, water drops down on me because there are small holes on the roof that we cant fix because its too high up and we don't have the resources to fix it. So I kindly ask you to please consider changing these rules.

Letter to FDR

Dear Diary, I am currently in my room writing this while waiting for Anne to get out of the W.C. so I can go. Anyways, this week has been a blast with Anne, she has taught me so much throughout the year about how to stick up for someone including myself. She is always the highlight of my day. I never knew that I could find the perfect person in the world. At the beginning of last year, she was so annoying and couldn't ever stop talking. But now, she is just the perfect person to talk to in these times, she always shows me the positive through a sad time or whenever I need someone there with me. I can't wait to start a new life with her after the war. We could finally be able to go out in the sunshine and talk however much we want! Well anyways, I’m going to head to the W.C before anyone else gets there before me!
