Passion and Creativity. Do you have passion for what you are doing, and how creative are you? I believe passion drives everything in life, especially in our efforts towards relationships, careers, and goals(spiritual, life, career). You can tell the teacher, administrator, etc, who's passionate behind what they are doing. Others feed off of it. Students can tell as well. Creativity, in this sense, is finding ways to grasp the attention of students, keeping their attention, engaging them and getting your point or lesson across. The subject matter that is taught never changes, but, what changes is life around the student, the environment, technology, just to name a few. Teachers are equipped with tools they need from technology to books. Every area is bright and full of light. Classrooms have desks that are in groups, not in military lines. Doors are open, there are glass walls so people can see energetic and active STUDENTS and TEACHERS in the class. Students have devices of their choice, IPad, laptops, chromebook, whatever they feel comfortable with using.  Administrators are walking through schools proud. Students devoured Hunger Games (pun intended) but students do not always understand the powerful messages contained in dystopian fiction. This class can break down the genre through the reading of such novels as Ready Player One, an excellent piece of fiction by Ernest Cline that Spielburg is currently directing. We can research to see if writers of dystopias are prophetic like Orwell or pushing a liberal agenda. And of course, there will be survival games and dystopian movies and dystopian video games. So...how does technology come into the picture? We can calculate our carbon footprints, use Google earth, make short films, create video games or apps, connect with other students studying the same content via social media, create public service announcements. Somebody stop me!
