The letter G also makes two different sounds in Spanish, but only 

one of those sounds is like an English G sound. The Spanish letter G never makes the /j/ sound, but it does make a sound like the English /g/ sound, as in gatoor gracias. The other sound made 

by G in Spanish is /j/, the same sound that the Spanish letter J makes. Listen to it in the word genera. The Spanish letter G makes the /j/ sound whenever the next letter is E, as in the word gente, or when the next letter is I, as at the start of the word gigante.
