Police Legitimacy is the obedience and pure - hearted cooperation of the public with regards to the police. Procedural Justice is the ethical responsibility of the police to respect the public in return whilst carrying out their duties, procedural justice is compromised of four elements: Neutrality: making sure that evidence is measured impartially without some sort of bias that would make it a conflict of interests to do so, Respect for the citizens, having conduct that would instil public trust, as well as letting the people speak and actually listening to them.

The way that the NSW Police force tries to incorporate both concepts is by listening to contemporary community issues and values and responding accordingly, this is seen through the introduction of Indigenous liaison officers as well as youth liaison officers, attempting to mend the relationship between the police and the Indigenous community as well as making sure youths achieve the best in their lives by keeping them off the streets.

Police Legitimacy is the process of the Police organisation, participating and practicing proper and ethical policing practices that support the community. Procedural justice is the processes of disputes and resources to be used fairly and treated fairly. This can be shown through various interactions with the police and how they carry the situation, which links in as well as with police legitimacy.

The Police Force that I will be using is the New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF), the reasoning behind this, is that they have been able to successfully integrate these various ideas throughout their work while dealing with the community which can be shown through functions, events, real life situations, etc. As well as being able to portray this through various reports and mission statements, where they explain their work, which incorporates them

It is evident through the NSWPF (2016-17) Annual Report, that they have effectively incorporated and implemented police legitimacy as well as procedural justice, by stating various facts and figures, which explain the purpose of their work and the reaons of why they carry out various policing practices, which explains both polcie legitimacy and procedural justice.

In conclusion, we have been able to provide an understanding through

https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/533565/NSW_Police_Force_2016-17_Annual_Report.pdf
