It really depends on the age, teenagers almost always study English because of their parents, sometimes it is because they want or they have free time and don't know what else to do with their free time and find it productive.

Adulsts are often motivated for their jobs or opportunities they may have if they get another language, for traveling and sometimes it is required on their universities.

In December of 2019 I had just gotten accepted into university and I had a lot o free time because I didn't have to go to any academy. So my mom want me to do something during vacation and she signed me up for ICPNA.
In my case, It depends on the age:
The younger ones are forced by their moms because they have bad grades at school. While the older ones do it because it's necessary for their studies or jobs.

The motivations of my students for learning English are mostly related to their university studies, and for their job certification. In Peru, universities required students to learn a 2nd. language to be graduated.

Most of my students are teeneagers and obviously they are quite motivated by social media like you tube and music, that really helps but I tell them that speaking another language is a must nowadays if you want to have better oportunities to get a job.

Mostly of my students are studying because their parents made them to.

Some of them are there because they asked their parents to study English.

A few of them are studying due to their work demands or because they want to study abroad.

If I remember correctly, some of them told me that their parents forced them to study it. Another student told me that he needed to improve his grades in the subject at school, and others said that they would like to travel abroad in the future.

I DIDN´T USE TO LIKE ENGLISH BUT WHEN I FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL ,I TRAVELED TO LIMA TO VISIT MY SISTER.SHE GOT A SCHOLARSHIP TO SUTDY ENGLISH.SINCE SHE WAS PREGNANT,SHE COULN´T STUDY THE COURSE.I STARTED TO STUDY FOR HER INSTEAD,THERE THE TEACHER WAS VERY PATIENT AND PROFESSIONAL THAT HE MOTIVATED ME TO CONTINUE WITH THE COURSE OF ENGLISH.
