His parents got eaten up by a terrible accident in London. From then, he lived with his two aunts in a ramshackle house on the top of a high hill, both of them are selfish, lazy, and cruel. James was never allowed to go out, except in the garden, or else, he will be punished. He lived a lonely and boring life day by day.

Chapter 2:
It has been a blazing hot day in the middle of summer after 3 years since James lived with 2 aunts. He chopped wood for the kitchen stove, and 2 aunts were sitting in deck-chair nearby. James began thinking about all children in the world and what they were doing at this moment. He stopped working and felt sad. Until Aunt Spiker screeched, he began to cry. Two aunts threatened to hit them, James ran off as fast as he could to the far end of the garden and covered his face with a hand and cried.

Chapter 3:
While James was crying, suddenly he heard a rustling of leaves. Then, he saw an old man with a weird look emerging from the bushes. He walked up to James and mysteriously introduced him to his mall white bag. James was quite scared, he still looked inside the bag. Inside it was a mass of tiny green things that sparkled and then suddenly moved slowly as if they were alive. That old man came closer and closer to James and shouted a series of strange statements. He pushed the paper bag into James's hand and said it had been his.

Although he tried his best to pick them up, they immediately disappeared. James wondered about some cases that may get the full power of the paper bag's magic. However, after that, he was woken up by his aunt. She ordered him to do his usual work (chopping wood), and her sister's suggestion about strict punishment would apply to him. James felt regretful for losing these valuable treasures that may help him have a happy life. However, when he was about to start chopping again, he stopped and turned by a shout behind him.

He picked up a chopper and start chopping away again. However, those two silly aunts shouted suddenly. They discovered that was a peach on the highest branch. They were shocked at the thing they saw at that time. They also can not believe in that because that miserable tree never has any peaches on it. James told himself that something peculiar is about to happen and approached closer to the tree. Especial, the two women were more surprised when the only peach was getting bigger and bigger. That's perfectly ridiculous.

Aunt Spiker shouted and Aunt Sponge cried out because of happiness and excitement, but they made the little boy shut up. While Sponge watered at the mouth and wanted to dig out a great big chuck of the peach, Spiker thought about a pile of money from the peach.

It is a giant ball thrown into the grass, quiet, mysterious, and amazing. And then suddenly a slight tremor ran through the dermis from the excitement on James's back. He commented to himself on "something even stranger than ever this time" is about to hit him again quickly. He looked around, wondered what the hell it would be. The garden was soft and silvery in the moonlight. Almost not understanding what he is doing, as if someone pulling, he climbed over the fence that surrounded him and stopped right below him. He came closer and rubbed his cheek lightly on soft skin.

Therefore, she said kindly that he mustn't be frightened because all of them waited for him for a long time. James is in the same boat with those insects, by the way. After all, The Centipede asked James whether he would come over there and gave a hand with his boots.

The Centipede said that the Earthworm was a slimy beast and he was the only pest in this room although the Earthworm was a useful and much-loved creature. It took a while for her to wake up, say hello to James, turn off the light and go back to sleep. James lay on the bed and felt happy to make new friends. Both of them were kind and helpful. He didn't know what's going on. The Ladybird, of course, a kind and gentle creature, came up and stood beside him. She gave James some comments. Before reaching the steep edge of the hill, he finds himself on a steep slope. And therefore the only thing that has been stopping this peach from rolling away right from the beginning is the thick stem attaching it to the tree. Miss Spider cried as the room gave another violent lurch. At that moment, Centipede stuck a smiling face into the hole in the ceiling. Insidiously, the great peach started to lean forward and steal into motion. And the whole room began to lean forward and steal into motion. All had just come slithering quickly down the wall.

At the bottom of the hill, it charged across the road, rushed madly across about twenty fields, broke down all the fences and hedges in its path. The peach was still going down at a tremendous speed with no sign of slowing down. People around this countryside frantically screamed and scattered as it went hurting by. Would it ever stop? Maybe yes until it reached the ocean. The peach was rushing closer and closer to the sea every second, and closer to the white cliffs, which are hundreds of feet high. Below them, the sea is deep and cold. Right now, it turning over in the air. And then began to fall.

They all swung round to us. All of their guess about it. And the Earthworm will bet them anything them like that strange creatures are sharks and they have come along to eat them up. Did everybody else, but they were too frightened to admit it. They all peered down anxiously at the sharks who were cruising slowly round and round the peach. The shark paused and stared up at the company with small evil eyes. The shark opened his mouth and made a lunge at the peach. They all watched, aghast. All the sharks began to attack furiously. Everybody also urged James to think of ways out of this. Their eyes waited upon him, tense, anxious, pathetically hopeful.

Chapter 20:
Due to the great expectation from others that James could do something to help all ones from Sharks’danger, James suggested using strings to make it work. He was supposed to loop one end of the long silk string around a seagull’s neck, and then he was going to tie the other end to the stem of the peach. Everyone thought it is a bad idea. However, James believed that there were a large number of seagulls in the sky, hundreds or even a thousand seagulls could lift everybody in the end. He was opposed by others because they had no idea to catch seagulls. And next, James planned to use Earthworm as bait. Earthworm refused to do that with the thought of being pecked to death. But finally, it’s a plan which would be carried out with James’s reassurance that Earthworm wouldn’t give his life.

The Centipede was out of nervousness and said that James was a genius. However, the Earthworm is on the scare. James went over and put an arm gently round the Earthworm's shoulder, he promised he would not let the seagulls touch him. Beneath them, the sharks travel up top, seemed as though the peach were sinking lower and lower into water. Everyone needs to take action, and James is the captain, so all the insects would do whatever he told them.

The Old-Green-Grasshopper and the Ladybird were further down the tunnel, holding on to the Earthworm's tail, ready to pull him quickly in out of danger as soon as James gave the word. And far below, in the great stone of the peach, the Glowworm was lighting up the room so that the two spinners, the Silkworm and Miss Spider, could see what they were doing. He was purple all over, and now that the paint was beginning to dry and harden, he was forced to sit very stiffly and upright, as though he were encased in cement.
