With this group she got heavily involved with the civil rights movement and the protests against the Vietnam War. She then started working 50-60 hour weeks at the National Archives. </div>]]></description>

She grew up in a diverse neighborhood so her parents taught her to challenge stereotypes and create a better life for herself than many others from where she grew up. She then taught at a school that was mostly white and she persisted through all the racism she faced there. </div>]]></description>
