Marcus learns of the conditions set on the prisoner's freedom, and after a short interview is sent in for his own case. The judge ultimately decides the only fine he will need to pay is for stealing Masha's phone, and he is told to go free with that bail set. When he leaves the court house he is greeted by his family in an emotional scene where his parents finally have their worries freed. They go to see Darryl at the hospital in the end of the chapter, and Marcus worries over Darryl in his hospital bed.

Marcus was a hero in this chapter, finally winning over the DHS. Them being freed all occurred from his evidence and exposing the DHS for their crimes. However he is also a criminal, however small, by stealing a phone. This is why he isn't held for his crimes against the government, but is given a bail for his theft. He stands as a great hero and a petty villain.
