We originally was going to do a cover of Creep by Radiohead but we didn't think it really fitted into the idea of blues music so we didn't end up doing the cover.
In the end we decided that we were going to create an original song with blues influences incorporated into it. We used a lot of minor sounding chords to give it a blues feel due to blues having a lot very sad a depressing sounds to it. Along with that we created some lyrics that related to what maybe other people could relate to, which back then blues songs were about things such as slavery because the people that mainly sang them songs were slaves themselves who came from Africa going to America to work on such things as farms. We also wanted the song to be the sad side of blues due to theses types of songs were usually sung when you had the "blues"

Our idea was that we had to have a upbeat and a funky rhythm due to latin songs are usually danced to. We showed our idea through all the instruments by the lyrics being about moving your body which is linking to dancing, the drum beat is also a a pace which would be able to dance to and the guitar and bass have a latin/reggae style melody through-out which made the song slot together nicely and giving it an overall catchy rhythm to it. The feedback that we was given was that it was a catchy song but it could have had more lyrics added to it due to there not being many lyrics to go to the song, also that the mics needed to be level due both of the voices not being heard properly throughout.
I think we could of developed it by there being more lyrics to it and maybe the vocals could have a section to sing each. There could have been a bit more of a guitar solo due to latin music having quite a lot of latin music having very long solos to them.
Our strengths were that the song was very catchy and had great rhythm to it. Our idea was that we were going to write something that country songs were usually wrote about so we picked heartbreak. Then we thought that we could add a twist to it by adding a bit of a bit of a rap to it.
We also used an acoustic guitar instead of an electric to give it the country vibe. The feedback that we were given was that it all fitted together perfectly and that even the rap went with it well. We managed to get all the levels correct and that it was also very easy to get stuck in your head easily. We weren't given any criticism to the song and there was nothing to really improve on. My thought was that the song was pieced together well and that everything slotted together correctly and there wasn't a harsh difference in the song when going from the singing to the rapping.

At first we were going to go for a rock style but we accidentally knocked a switch on the amp which gave us an effect which we liked and we thought it sounded like a disco style guitar so in the end we decided to go for a Disco influenced song. We then brainstormed ideas of what disco songs had in and then what things we could add in to make the song a bit more modern. We decided that a disco song has catchy lyrics, drum beat and guitar melodies and riffs so we kept that we also decided to make the bass catchy by holding on the notes to also give it that disco effect, but to make it feeling like a more modern song we decided to add a bit of a rap in so it appeals to people our age.
Overall, our feedback was positive due to the rest of the class saying it was very easy to get stuck in your head and that when we all shouted "hey" near the end it grabbed their attention even more. On a whole our grouped even agreed that we thought that we did a good song and that we achieved the style and goals that we were going for, we couldn't think of anything to improve the song by but we said that if we had to have an improvement then maybe we could have a but of a longer drum solo and maybe add a guitar solo as well. The lyrics were based on things like hope, ambition and aiming high for your dreams.

We though that we needed minimal instruments and that we should add in extra bits that are used in the music video such as the beginning where it is spoken because we though maybe it would be effective to use it. We changed the song up by making it an acoustic song because this song is originally a emo/punk song so by making be calmer it slows the song down and makings it a bit more understandable to listen and to follow along to. This song was chosen because we were thinking of a song that is usually a rock song that we could calm down a bit but still keep the vibe to the song without ruining it.
This song didn't take long to go through because we all knew the song pretty well but then we thought that it needed to have something to it that gave it something to make it seem authentic, so we decided to keep the speaking parts that were in the music video it also gave it a but of a comedic feel.
Our feed back was that they thought it was a great idea to keep the speaking part in because it dragged the audience into the song, we also had feedback of that it was well preformed and that you could defiantly tell that we knew the song inside and out due to the timings and the rhythm being at the correct times.

We decided that we wanted this to be a punk song due to the lyrics being angry and pointing out truths about how people want us to be but we aren't. We managed to create the song easy enough but then another person was added to the group and they weren't happy on the style we had and they tried to change around what we already had but we soon came over that and worked it out and managed to have the best of both worlds. We made sure that both the drums and guitars were quite heavy so we made sure to add a lot of snare and crash, and for the guitar we made sure that it mainly consist of down strokes to give it the full punk effect. We had the feedback of the piece was very strong and very powerful lyrics, we also had that the piece contrasted well together and it all fitted well together. We could have been more organised and had maybe tried to fit in everything better like bass which meant that Carl needed to actually communicate with Julia so she would know what notes she needed to play on bass, but besides from that a feel like we did quite well on this composition and that if we did it again we could maybe change it and make everything work a little bit better

Due to it sounding like an indie song we had to think of an idea for lyrics and we though that a lot of indie songs use things about dreams so it just went from there. We wrote the lyrics about how people base there dreams on what is meant to be "reality" and that all these things that you do see on things like TV is all too fake so you should reach for the dreams that you want to live and not the things that people are telling you to go for or what you have seen on reality TV and the chorus is kind of saying that you can't forget what your dreams were so why should you try and run away from them. We thought that over all we did well and that everything went smoothly for us without any problems we just got on with it and managed to make sure that everybody managed to have a say in it. We got mainly positive feedback about it all worked well together and everything was in time and it slotted together well, we also got feedback of the mics maybe being louder but we had a problem with that because we couldn't get the mics any louder with out any feedback happening.

The lyrics are about missing someone who has gone from your life in this case it is about suicide. We thought that the song should have very melancholic sound a feel to it due to it being a sad song. To achieve this goal we decided to go for minimal instruments so that the voices can be heard better because the piece is mainly focused on the lyrics. We decided that there should be two singers because it is like saying the before and after the person has gone so it is adding an effect because it is two different voices for a different circumstances. We decided that on the guitar in the verses that we should do some picking to it the make it have a more simplistic vibe and then slowly build up in the pre-chorus going into the chorus because it is showing the angry that maybe viewed in the chorus.
We had the feedback of the style of song fitting into the lyrics and everything worked well together, we also got the feedback of that everything could be heard and that nothing drowned out each other. We had feedback of that we need to make sure what each other are playing because in the pre-chorus i was playing the chords to the chorus whereas Ryder was playing the notes from the verse other than that i feel like overall we achieved everything that we wanted to and that if we needed to add anything we could have maybe added a bit of piano.
