  • First story is easier. Shorter text; simpler words-give to LLSs; easier plot of the story

  • 2nd story is harder. Longer text; more difficult vocabulary-give to HLSs

  • One strategy-Have each group (HLSs and LLSs) read the story in English and circle words/sentences they don’t understand. After, give them Chinese translation and let Ss try to figure out the meaning of the words/sentences they didn’t understand.
