Learning Journal 1.
When my parents told me they were considering continuing my studies in the UK I was extremely excited, I have a few friends schooling in the UK and a sibling, hearing about their experiences made me eager to come to the UK myself to see what the hype is about.

How i felt getting off the plane? Exhausted, My family and I took a transfer flight not a direct one from Lagos to Dubai then to the UK, which took approximately 12 hours, 6 hours longer than a direct flight from Lagos to the UK. Stepping out of the airport the only thought in my head was on how clod the weather is. Exhaustion aside, I couldn't pay attention to my surroundings and later on fell asleep in the cab.

When I woke up we were in Brighton, everywhere I looked, there were students, shops, restaurants etc. Brighton is like a haven built for students, everything is within walking distance and it's dominated mainly by the youths. Brighton gave off a friendly vibe, the way the houses are close to each other, how lively the streets are and from the few people I have met they have been polite and friendly .

Being an Economists has always been my dream job, I came about this decision after meeting a friends dad, he introduced me to the many aspects of Economics and since then my interest for it only grew greater. In the university I'm looking towards studying Economics and maybe Finance. The university I'll like to study in will be Durham or Leeds.

When I graduate I will love to start working as soon as possible, I would love a stable job where my position is guaranteed. I've always wanted to work as an Economist for Samsung, I have no particular reason, I got the idea after seeing the Economist for Samsung being interviewed on Television and then decided I want that position or any other for Economist position for large co-operations or an Economist for the government or oil companies.
http://bit.ly/2BIspCC

Studying in my country is quite similar to studying in the UK. In my country, Nigeria, we are taught with the British curriculum (private schools) we use the British spelling and we are prepared for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. There are minor differences that can be found in the studying styles such as the teaching style.
The teaching styles vary because group work isn't really emphasized in my country but it is here, other than that everything else is quite similar, interactive classes, use of smart boards and regular assignments.
The workload however, seems smaller here, in the UK compared to my country. Since I've been here, I've only been given a total of about 3 assignments, but then my school work hasn't started yet so i might be wrong, but for now the workload in my country is more than what I've been given here.

Friends were easier to make in my country, probably because we are citizens of the same country. It is usually easier to befriend people of the same nationality than people with a foreign one, but the friendships here is something i look forward too. Meeting people of different nationalities and befriending them is something that cant be done in my country since we are all mostly Nigerians. The few people I've met are really friendly and welcoming and we acknowledge each other if we were to cross paths outside of school. It is also too early to make more in depth comparisons, since I've only been here a week

The class sizes here are smaller, but I prefer it this way. This way everyone knows each other and we all freely interact with each other. The teacher also focuses better on each student due to the smaller classes. The noise made from students is less. In my country the classes were often noisy because we were about 30 in a classroom and it was hard to pinpoint where exactly the noise was coming from but that can be avoided here due to the smaller classroom sizes.

Expectations, what I expected studying here would be like?. I thought studying here would be similar to what was shown in the movies. Friendly teachers, some serious students and others indifferent to their studies, same lunch time for everyone e.t.c. what I didn't expect were the close similarities between the studying in my county and here. Due to thus similarities studying here is comfortable, there are no major changes to my study pattern.
Overall the diffrences are minimal and so far my stay here has been enjoyable.

http://bit.ly/2A30al9

The few weeks I've been at Bellerbys have been interesting. I took a course I have never taken before, C.I.T, I met people of different ethnic backgrounds. The lessons have been informative. They were confusing at first but the further I went the clearer they became.

I am currently taking a total of three courses, Tutor Group not included because I view it as a guidance into university than a course. My first class in the college was CIT, because I missed my first day of college and started classes in the afternoon the day after. I enjoyed the first class and the classes after. CIT taught me a lot on the use of excel and Microsoft Word. My second Class of the Term was English. The first day of English class for me was interesting. I introduced myself to my partner and vise versa, then we told the class about each other. This exercise brought us together as a class and that was how I made my first friend here in Bellerbys. The final course I am taking is Business. This was the only class I didn't miss the first day of, only myself and another student showed up to class, the remaining were absent because of wrong timetable's. Irrespective of that fact the class was still interactive and friendly.

The teaching techniques of my teachers hardly vary, they all approach each topic in a friendly and fun manner which makes classes livelier and also makes time go by faster. Within each subject I take we are on our second module. For C.I.T we just rounded up on Microsoft Word, In Business we are currently on unemployment. Each class has been very informative and so far the topics have been easy to comprehend.

My English class which is taught by Mr Barney Hobbs played a large role in building relationships with students. In a few of our classes, we get to know each other, we exchange stories of past encounters and this has helped greatly in building friendly relationships. All my teachers also make sure I (and the entire class) understands clearly what is being taught.

Taking today into consideration, Tuesday 21st of November 2017. In my English class today we all answered questions about ourselves like, what important exam or test have you failed, what important item have you lost or when was your worst birthday etc. Through this questions I found out a few of my classmates worst birthdays and exam results that were below our expectation. The class also made us all communicate with people we don't talk to often.

My C.I.T or Business class is similar to my English class in sense of the teaching environment. These classes are taught by Sarah Witherby and Vuma B. respectively. Presently in C.I.T we are currently working on our school blog. It's fun and a new experience for me, I have never made a blog before so this is interesting and I enjoy it. We recently had a business quiz to revise what had been taught for the past weeks and we will be progressing to a new topics starting from the next class.

One of my opinion on passing examinations was read to pass in other words to cram and pass, but here I realized cramming to pass does not really work because most of the questions are applied. So you have to read and understand to analyse the questions to pass the examinations or quizzes.

In conclusion the three weeks I have been here has been enjoyable, I met new people and an old school mate also. The classes have been interesting and informative. I really look forward to spending a year at Bellerbys College.

CIT will be needed the further I go in my course that's the main reason for taking the course. It has helped massively to improve my use Excel and I am presently learning about the use of Microsoft word. In Business there would be need for the use of mentioned applications, that is why I am presently taking the CIT course and also for the general knowledge.

So far, from the classes I have taken, I can now make better use of excel. Initially when we were told that we will be making use of excel as a class I wasn't happy, because I made use of Excel briefly in Secondary school and it wasn't a nice experience. But now, my feelings towards Excel are more positive. I enjoy my CIT classes because the use of Microsoft applications has become easier and more fun. I now understand how to make use of a lot of tools on excel e.g. the use of Auto Sum, how to get the Excel to input True or False for given statements e.t.c.

So far I haven't found anything contradictory but at the start of my CIT classes I did find the use of Excel to be quite hard, but after a while I got the hang of it. I understand it a lot better now. So far I believe I have sufficient knowledge on Excel but I would like to know more about the functions we didn't make use of, other than that I am satisfied with what I have learned so far.

The class is taught generally, the task for today is explained first then we are given the go ahead to begin the work initially given to us. If we have any problems we ask our teacher for help.

In conclusion I have no major problems with any of my CIT classes, I love the way the classes are taught and so far I have been able to understand what I am being taught and I hope it continues to remain this way.
Credentials: Author's Own

In general English some words are mostly pronounced according to how it's spelled but with academic English pronunciation is done according to the

So far I have had no dislikes towards all I've been taught in my English classes. All of my classes have been fun and lively, full of conversations and the teacher also includes everyone in all class activities. What I enjoy most in my English class are the conversations we have as a class on the topic we are taking that day. For example, the time the topic was on controversies we've heard, the entire class was lively and I learnt a lot. I heard about a lot of controversies i didn't even know existed.

So far, I haven't found anything academic wise to be difficult of contradictory. I understand everything I've been taught so far. The only barrier I face is with communicating fluently with people, because of my accent some of what I say isn't passed across clearly.

I need to know more about the correct pronunciation of some words, so that what I say can be passed across clearly.

We are usually paired up and given a different task each to do, if there are any problems we can easily ask the teacher. The task usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes to be completed. Then we are divided into three or more groups and then we are told to explain to our group members what we learnt, In other words we all exchange information then we have a general conversation with everyone participating. different questions are asked with are answered with our own by us and when we don't know it the teacher steps in and explains it to us all.

Dae-Su is an obnoxious drunk bailed from the police station yet again by a friend. However, he's abducted from the street and wakes up in a cell, where he remains for the next 15 years, drugged unconscious when human contact is unavoidable, otherwise with only the television as company. And then, suddenly released, he is invited to track down his jailer with a denouement that is simply stunning.
http://bit.ly/2iPIaDf
http://bit.ly/2klqJee

Loved it, highly recommended.
This modern soap opera mines the intertwined lives of the Cohen, Cooper and Nichol families for drama, with a contemporary music soundtrack adding to the proceedings. Ryan, a teenager from the wrong side of the Chino tracks, finds himself in well-to-do Newport Beach -- an enclave of Southern California's Orange County. Taken in by a lawyer and his family, Ryan winds up in the midst of snarky, wealthy high schoolers and their sun-drenched angst.
Favourite couple: SethxSummer
http://bit.ly/2ALyErL
http://bit.ly/2iikrYt

This book just like every other John Green book killed me. Not in a positive way. If you like happy endings this is not a book for you. My definition of happy ending is the two main characters ending up together and living together happily ever after. Like a Disney Fairy tale. The only John Green book with a happy ending would be An Abundance of Katherines.
Summary: The book is mainly about Miles a boy seeking out his great perhaps, his friendship with Colonel and him developing feelings for Alaska.
Is it a good book? Yes. One despite it's ending I will still read again.
http://bit.ly/2kjbtOX

This book had a lot of hype around it and I have to say it didn't disappoint. There is a movie if you prefer that. In my opinion the book is better. Movie is played by Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson
Summary: Maddy is a smart, curious and imaginative 18-year-old who is unable to leave the protection of the hermetically-sealed environment within her house because of an illness. Olly is the boy next door who won't let that stop them from being together. Gazing through windows and talking only through texts, Maddy and Olly form a deep bond that leads them to risk everything to be together, even if it means losing everything.
http://bit.ly/2jcPs0L
http://bit.ly/2jeTuWu
