One problem with racism back in the progressive era was segregation, it separated the blacks from the whites and went as far as blacks couldn't touch the same things as whites. As many people tried to fight against segregation the Jim Crow Laws came into place and enforced segregation by forcing separation in schools, parks, libraries, drinking fountains, restrooms, buses, trains, and restaurants.

There were many people who tried to fight against racism like a woman activist I.D.A B. Wells who wrote multiple anti-lynching (killing of blacks without real reason) books. She had reported 241 lynchings and wrote 4 full books on anti-lynching. Another reformer against racism was W.E.B Du Bois, he had been known for creating the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) which was an organization that worked towards the abolition of Segregation. And one more reformer that was well known in the progressive era was Booker T. Washington who was the first president of the Tuskegee normal and industrial institute which was a school for African Americans to learn about anti-racism and to develop economic self reliance.

There were two main ways the African Americans fought against racism. One was the NAACP which had been officially founded in 1909 by W.E.B Du Bois. The second was the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute which was a school built in Alabama by Booker T. Washington in 1881 which specialized in teaching African Americans anti-racism and how to develop economic self reliance so they could work for themselves and not as slaves.

As time went on segregation was getting better for there weren't as many white and black schools but some people these days still discriminate against the blacks. Many people who started getting the most hate nowadays are Mexicans and Hispanics, they would often get called offensive names and get yelled at by the public to go back to their country, they would also get criticized for speaking spanish in public like a man just nine months ago getting kicked off a flight for speaking a different language.

There have been many reformers against racism today like Kari Guajajara who is a Brazilian woman who is a trained lawyer specialized in promoting indigenous peoples rights like the Mexicans. Another reformer fighting against racism now is Oswaldo Lobatón who is Afro-Peruvian and has fought for his peoples rights for nearly 4 decades and was awarded the Javier Perez de Cuellar Human Rights Award in 2015 for fighting against racism and is still fighting today.

The people of different race have been fighting and protesting against racism like the Amsterdam Protest which had taken place on 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue and was a protest against racism on Israel people, even though it was only two dozen people they still decided to sit in the middle of the street with signs protesting for the end of discrimination on Israel people. Another group of protesters (this time around hundreds of thousands of people of different race) gathered in the streets of Washington D.C. in 2020. This went on for HOURS and they ended up also covering up streets with the american flag on it with paint and wrote and drew murals showing that black lives matter.

Both sides had mostly if not all black people/people of different races as reformers and protesters against racism which showed that not many white people cared.
