The point of the story is when you are going to take something take only what you need hunt only what you need, and protect Mother Earth. The Earth on the Turtles Back is about taking care of animals and the Ojibwe people, but the Ojibwe people will hunt and grow food while The Earth On The Turtles Back eats fruit and veggies. "Take care of Mother Earth, and she will take care of you. Don't get greedy. Take only what you need, and remember to put down tobacco before you take from Mother Earth." and "Her choice doesn't mean that Ojibwe people are not educated, they just have a different way of learning".
