In 1883, Darwis was sent to Mecca, to perform the pilgrimage, and deepen his religious knowledge. In Mecca, he interacts with the thought of reformers on the Islamic world, such as Muhammad Abduh and Jamaluddin al-Afghani. He also meet with Imam Syafi'i Sayid Bakri Syatha to change his name from Muhammad Darwis to Ahmad Dahlan.

After returning to Java around 1888, he got marriage with Siti Walidah and joined Budi Utomo in 1909. However, his supporters urged him to create his own organization. Ahmad Dahlan then created Muhammadiyah in 1912 as an educational organisation as a means of realising his reformist ideals. In 1917, he add a women's section named Aisyiyah, which played a significant role in modernising the life of Indonesian women. Through those organizations, Ahmad Dahlan and his wife do many charitable efforts in many fields, especially in education, health and social programs. Muhammadiyah held movement intentions to keep the Amar Makruf Nahi Munkar. This is to realize that Islam is a mercy to the whole nature forward coolness and tranquility, instead of a religion of threats.

After thousand various movement for Indonesia, Ahmad Dahlan passed away at the age of 56. He was burried in Yogyakarta. Now, all peoples commemorate him always as the hero of muslim in Indonesia.

 

Before we go for mudik, my parents prepared few things like the food that we would carry along the trip, and our clothes during mudik. Mother also brings some gifts for my grandparents. We went there by train.

It was a long trip. We started the route from Bogor, West Java to Tulungagung, East Java. It takes more than 12 hours. Although it was so tiring, but I am so happy because I would meet my grandparents. Besides, the view along way was so beautiful when we pass on the rural town. At least it could a little bit overcome the boring feel along the way there.

Finally, after a quite long and tiring trip, we arrive at my grandparents’ house at night. My grandparents were so surprised by our coming. They hugged and kissed us. I was so glad by seeing their smiling faces. Another thing that made me happy in my hometown was my two best friends. I could spend for about two weeks of my Eid holiday with them. The most exciting moment was celebrating Idulfitri there because the atmosphere was so festive and jolly. Moreover, all my relatives from my grandparents were also gathered there.

That day is celebrate every year to commemorate Indonesia’s declaration of Independence Day from the Dutch.  On Friday, August 17, 1945, the proclamation of Indonesian Independence was read by Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta. The declaration was a sign of the launch of the Indonesian National Revolution’s political and military struggle against Dutch forces. Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta, who were declared as president and vice-president the next day. 

After following ceremony, my friends and I join some contests. I choose reading The Preamble of the 1945 Constitution. My friends preferred joining speech and funny games. Although it was conducted in one day only, we are very happy.
