Ask the trivia question I asked at the beginning of this Module and then compile Trivia Questions about some of those topics that students shared. Play class trivia when you have extra time in class or as a fun celebration at the end of the week. (I've done this with students and they love it.)

Create a "bell work" question for each day that requires student to reflect on their personal lives/cultures/experiences to answer the question. Utilize these answers throughout your curriculum, projects, and even daily conversation with those students to access their funds of knowledge.

Since I am already teaching, I have tried so many different ways to get to know my students. For example, during our first and second library classes, we did a get to know you sort of activity. I told them some things about my life, like things I like and what I do for fun. I asked them to then create a quick powerpoint showing some of their favorite things. We then shared those things as a class.

However, I feel like the most interesting time is when we are lined up at the end of class. I typically ask students to share something they had fun doing or something they learned over the weekend. I love listening to what they are interested in and it is truly helpful as an educator to know that background information about a student.

The students can fill out a form in the beginning of the year with a bunch of different experience's that they have had, and especially having them highlight what they have been taught about agriculture at home or where there food comes from. I could then use this to regularly pull the students into discussions with their diverse perspective on different agricultural topics. - Sarah Riggins
