"People like sports because they get self-esteem benefits from it. People like sports because they have money on it. People like sports because their boyfriend or girlfriend or family member likes sports. People like sports because it’s exciting. People like sports because it’s aesthetically pleasing. People like sports because, like the theater, it is a venue for emotional expression. People like sports because they need an escape from real-world troubles. People like sports because it provides a sense of belonging, a connection to a wider world." Sports is a story with a beginning, middle, and end. For people who watch sports or play they in the end want to have fun and win.

If you play a sport it can help with things in life. It helps you try to stay organized and plan out your days. For example planning practice then recovery time from practice and also leading up to game day. It can be like working on a project and planning out times to do it so you can eventually turn it in or present. Sports can stimulate the brain in ways as of playing it yourself or really appreciating how a play was made or how great an athlete is.

It gives you more self confidence and helps with self esteem. It could also help keep away from drugs as being an athlete is already hard enough.

Recent studies on hockey fans showed that watching hockey increased their pulses by 75% and watching it in person increased it by 110%. It isn't because of the outcome of the game but more from the excitement of watching the sport that causes pulses to rise. People with heart problems are obviously more at risk which is why doctors recommend people with heart problems to check with their doctors to see if it is okay to watch sports. One also suggested having defibrillators at games.

Playing sports taught her reality. In reality you can work as hard as you can but there is always the option of failing. With growing up and learning that it teaches you reality and how not to crash when you fail. Sacrifice is another thing she talks about that can go with time management. It teaches you that you can't do everything at once and you have to sacrifice things to either play sports or other things in life. It teaches discipline so you can mature early and learn to work on yourself early.

Students who play team sports in grades 8 through 12 have less stress and better mental health as young adults. Researchers found that people that played sports took three tests and they had lower depression symptoms, lower perceived stress, and better self-rated mental health. Exercise can also serve as an antidepressant. It also helps with addiction by acting as another way to stimulate the same part of the brain that drugs do and help with staying sober.

Brands study psychology to find ways to promote or make items to have more people buy their products.
