         <description><![CDATA[<div>Martin Luther King Jr. <br>He was born on January 15, 1929. He was a baptist minister and a civil rights activist. In the spring of 1963 Martin organized a spring demonstration in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. Many families attended and were arrested along with Martin Luther King Jr. himself. He gave his famous "I have a dream" speech in August of 1963. More than 200,000 people attended. He was assassinated on April 4, 19 <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Joseph McNeil, Franklin McCain, David Richmond and Ezell Blair. Joseph Alfred McNeil was born in 1942 in Wilmington, North Carolina. McNeil then became involved in the formation of the Student Executive Committee for Justice, a student group created in response to the sit-ins. He also participated in negotiations between student protesters, Woolworth’s management, and the Human Relations Commission. Franklin Eugene McCain was born in Union County, North Carolina, in 1942. Along with the sit-in McCain also participated in the negotiations between the student protesters, Woolworth’s management, and the Human Relations Commission. David Richmond was born on April 20, 1941 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ezell Alexander Blair Sr. was born on December 14, 1919, in Greensboro, North Carolina. He served in the United States army during World War two. He ha a daughter who was also an active participant in demonstrations. Blair received the "Stepping Stone to Freedom" award by Greensboro's Sit-In 30th Anniversary Committee, the "Unsung Hero" award from the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, and the Hayes-Taylor YMCA Century Club award.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the major organizations involved in the sit-ins was the student nonviolent coordinating committee. This organization was formed to give younger African Americans more of a voice during the Civil Rights movement. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference&nbsp;was another organization that was lead by Martin Luther King Jr. This organization fought peacefully against the harsh discrimination African Americans faced during this time.</div>]]></description>
