3 Facts:
- In 1980, not even very long ago, women working as full time employees earned less than 60 cents to every dollar made by a man for the same job. 
- Both presidential candidates have been active in the discussion surrounding this topic.  Overall, Clinton seems to focus on ending this wage gap that most frequently occurs in jobs that do not require degrees.  Trump's campaign focuses on the pay difference between mothers and women without children. 
- As the title states, the wage gap has become far less significant than it was in past times, such as the 80s.  Now, on average, women are receiving a record-breaking 80 cents for "every dollar earned by a comparable male". 
1 Analysis:
-According to a study by Cornell University, "about half the gap stems from women being more heavily clustered in lower-paying jobs and industries--not that they are paid less for identical work".  They then continue to add over one third of the gap is from factors they can't identify (potential discrimination).  I, personally, believe that enforcing equal pay would boost the economy.  Women tend to be the ones buying necessities, as well as accessories, more than males.  Also there are a lot of "single mom" families, so women purchase more things than just for themselves.  Not to mention women's products usually cost more than the same product geared toward men.

- Why are women paid a lower amount when we are living in 2016?  Does this have anything to do with having children?

Without a law saying women and men need to be payed the same amount for the same job, it's going to happen naturally for what people think is right. I believe that it will be closed in the future whether that is right or wrong.

Without a solution presented by each side I don't believe either candidate will make any dramatic chances to the wage gap once elected. Woman may still be getting paid less because when they have children they often take more time off of work than there partner.
