The railroads completely changed the lives of everyone. It was a more efficient way for people to trade goods. Along, with transporting goods further away. It also, fixed the problem of different timezone by creating four standard time zones. Towns also began to specialize in a certain good which gave the states individual strengths. Lastly, states started to doped on each other because places were specializing in a certain good.

Populist movement

The populist movement was started by the common people, specially farmers. It began when business men in  charge of the railroad began to overprice their service. This lead to farmers going to debt along with anyone who was trading. Eventually farmers began to create meetings and then they created the populist party. The populist party is important beacause, it brought up important ideas whcih we still use today.

William Mckinley

In the election of 1896,William Mckinley was the Republican candidate. He was a wealthy man who believed that gold should be the metal of the U.S monetary system. His campaign had lots of funds. He was also very known for his "Front Porch Campaign." He won the election in 1896 and many more.

William Jennings Bryan

The election of 1896 determined which metal, gold or silver, would be used in the U.S monetary system. Bryan was the candidate for the Democratic Party. He believed silver should be used. Unlike Mckinley, he was not wealthy,however, he was a great speaker and would visit may states; 27 in total. Although in the end,he never won a election.

Connection With The Past

A connection with the past would be the laws. Now there are laws that were suggested by the populist party. Some of the ideas the populist party had would be the income tax, election of U.S senators by direct election instead of appointments, secret ballot, and an eight hour work day. These changes are very important cause they have improved our life style. Lastly, without these laws life would not be the same.

Political cartoons were a big impact. They explained how the people viewed the current events. In the Industrial Revolution, that meant the peoples feelings towards robber barons, along with the railroad. I found it very interesting because the drawings have a really interesting way of portraying what was going on. Overall, I found the drawings very humorous in a way and they caught my attention
