My first port of call for finding out the news of the hour are news websites. For accurate and unbiased reporting of events, I don't think anyone can beat BBC News - the BBC is the best and most trustworthy news organisation in the country, and I know that what I am reading is not only true but a fair representation of the truth. I grew up in a BBC listening house, so I guess it was inevitable I'd stick with it as an adult. I'll click on to this several times throughout the day, to find out the latest news.

The Guardian has good news reporting - not as good as the BBC, but good - and I'll often click through to it to find out their take on the day's events. Unlike the BBC, the Guardian has an editorial line - editorial and opinion pieces will present a left-of-centre take on current affairs, and I enjoy seeing what their take on the facts of the day is. Because I like to read the opinion writers, and sometimes contribute "beneath the line" in the comments sections, I'll read this in the evenings, when I'm at leisure - otherwise I'll end up fuming in my coffee breaks!

I like to think I read the Guardian because it agrees with me. You could say I am allowing it to influence me. But I don't seem to come away from it having changed my mind - not sure if that's good or bad!

Bus fares are going up! That's the latest news in my local paper, the Brighton Argus. I was introduced to this by my co-worker, who buys it religiously every day. I'm a bit of a passive consumer really - I read his copy when he's finished with it, but I don't usually buy a copy myself or use the website. I do go to their website sometimes, if I really need to know what's going on locally. I enjoy keeping informed of local affair - this allows me to do so without demanding too much time or money.

I was introduced to facebook in my first week at university. Caused a bit of confusion - one of my housemates was called Faye, and I thought the others were talking about "Faye's book". I soon learned better! Now I value facebook for connecting me with lots that's going on personally, locally and nationally - today I found out about a friend giving birth! Facebook also allows me to discover interesting new facts, find out about interesting events, and keep up with personal interests.

This gloriously anarchic magazine isn't afraid to speak the truth. I came to it after getting its annual album for Christmas. But since then, I have learnt that, aside from the deadly edged jokes, it covers many stories that the national press doesn't bother with. I read it whenever it comes out, twice a month.

BBC Radio offers so much - music, drama, news, comedy - either broadcast over the air, or streamed on the website, or as podcasts. This is one of my favourites - the Now Show is a mash-up of the week's news by Hugh Dennis (of Outnumbered Fame) and Steve Punt. After what can sometimes be a week of grim news, it's a relief to look at it from a fresh, humorous perspective. It goes out 6.30 Friday nights on Radio 4 - perfect way to start the weekend!

I use Youtube a lot - it's a real treasure trove of new and old content. I like classical music a lot, and can usually find pieces to listen to here. I can find old and new TV programmes - I dug up Elidor last week, and got to relive a bit of childhood.

This is a video from youtube of one of my current favourite singers, Benjamin Appl - great voice, and a jaw you could break rocks with! I'm always on the lookout for new videos posted by him https://youtu.be/_CEJzRhKGD4.
