On Thursday 26th September 2024 – 3.30pm-4.30pm – there is an opportunity for parents/carers to
attend our Welcome and Settling in Evening. This is an opportunity for you to attend and meet your
child’s Head of Year and Form Tutor who will go over any key information that will support the start and
continued successful transition throughout their journey at Eastbury Community school. The event is
also an opportunity for you to clarify any information you would like more detail on or address any
concerns/queries you may have.

You are allowed to eat your lunch while you play (while being calm and sensible of course).

All year 7 students picked one of the Book Buzz recommended reads to have receive a personal copy of. Their chosen books are on their way to school and will be handed out in the next few weeks. - theirs to keep and enjoy.  Happy Reading Year 7!

This fun and challenging activity was designed not only to celebrate their efforts, but also to strengthen teamwork, problem-solving, and communication — all essential skills for outstanding leaders.

The experience was both enjoyable and memorable, giving them the chance to reflect on their achievements and continue developing their leadership skills in an engaging setting.

There were two parts to the escape room challenge: escaping the room and solving the mystery. Although we didn’t manage to escape the room, we did successfully solve the mystery! The team worked incredibly hard and stayed positive throughout, especially impressive given it was 30 degrees inside with no air conditioning! 😊

They were joined by Councilor Val Masson and Councilor Rocky Gill from the Borough.​

Val shared that she had received many positive comments in response to our letters, with residents expressing their gratitude for our efforts to keep the area clean.​

The students showed fantastic enthusiasm, patience, and determination, and represented the school with great pride.​

This will now become a monthly initiative, with our Young Leaders and Eco Squad working together to help keep our community tidy and cared for.​

The day started with a challenge during practice when the car broke down due to the drive shaft coming loose. The team quickly sprang into action, working together to identify and fix the issue. Unfortunately, the chain was also damaged and, without a spare, we had to make the best possible repair. With only two practice laps completed, our drivers had limited time to adjust to the very long and fast track.

In the first race, despite a cautious start, the team finished 7th out of 16 cars, completing a 1 hour 45 minute race with 12 laps and covering a total distance of 26.4 miles (42.5km). The second race began more smoothly, with two driver changes, but after 5 laps the chain broke completely, bringing our race to an early end.

This was our first race with significant technical issues, but the students really stepped up to the challenge. They showed great teamwork in carrying out repairs during the short turnaround between races, and handled the experience of having our car on the recovery truck for the first time with positivity and resilience.

New parts have already been ordered, and we look forward to the next race season starting in May.

We’re also looking for new team members for the next season. If your child is interested in joining, please have them speak to Mr. Jhita.

A huge thank you to all staff who have supported the team during this first season. Special thanks to Mr S Najeeb (parent) for attending every race, securing sponsorship from Amazon and generously supporting us with safety gear and car parts.

We have Staff Inset on Tuesday 1st September. Pupils will have a staggered return from Wednesday 2nd September. Thursday 3rd September and Friday 4th September will are normal teaching days.
