What I have learned

I learned many things about my Irish heritage and Irish history while doing this project. For example I learned that part of Ireland is a republic. Ireland has a rich history and culture that goes way back. Ireland is also separated into southern and northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is apart of of the United Kingdoms. Southern Ireland is known as the Republic of Ireland. This is because of a split 90 years ago. The split was because of Irish people that fought for independence from Britain. I also learned more in depth about well known Irish stuff such as St. Patrick day. I also got to learn about my personal history. I found my heritage interesting. Another interesting fact I learned was that Halloween's origins actually traces back to a Gaelic festival of Samhain. Something I found weird was that St Patrick was actually kidnapped by Irish pirates. He was held as a slave for years. After escaping, he eventually came back to Ireland and became a missionary. These are just some of the things I have learned about Ireland. This project has made me more interested in my heritage and will make me look more into my family history.
