This Activity is included in the PowerPoint presentation. Students will be asked to place laminated cut-outs of examples of acids, bases and neutrals in everyday life, based on how acidic or how basic they think the item is. The laminated examples include: lemons, vinegar, cleaning solution, milk, water, and caustic soda. This exercise incorporates examples of substances already covered int he lesson and some examples that were not. This induces higher order thinking to challenge the students. It also includes active recall and this appeals to the students who learn visually and through activity. I reused images of the examples that were covered earlier in the class to target the different learning styles.

8. Activity 2

This experiment allows students to apply the theory they have learned to an activity. Students develop skills such as communicating and working with others.

Students can present their results in any form they prefer. Students will then return to Activity 1 and check if their original assumption on the acidity/basicity of the substances was correct. If not, students must interpret their results and correct their mistakes. This will take place as a class discussion.

This video was edited and clipped to provide the students with an insight into how to use the different types of indicators. This video also allows me to present information in another teaching-learning style.

5(b).Well-Being Indicators Expanded

in this lesson the following well-being indicators are incorporated: Aware (AW), Connected(C), Respected(R), and Responsible (RS).

Most Well-Being indicators are inter-linked with each other. When carrying out any experiment students must be Responsible. In this lab students are dealing with possible corrosive substances. Students must be aware when carrying out investigations. Students must be made aware of the risks and when working with others (WWO), students must be aware of everyone's feelings. This incorporates the well-being indicator of being Respected. In order to be respected students and teachers must give respect to the other people in the class.

Through group work students will be connected to their friends and classmates. By setting the students the homework task of researching the application of acids and bases in life helps them connect Science to their world.

These peer reviewed papers played an integral role in the planning and developing of this lesson. Article 1 develops my understanding of inquiry based learning and the Nature of Science. Article 1 on the Strands of Science Teaching, deals with the Experimental Proceedings. This helped me decide on the amount of instructions I would provide during the experiment and whilst the students designed their procedure. This article influenced the Homework task for students by initiating research relative to acids and bases. The aim was to spark inquiry about the applications of acids and bases in daily life, both locally and globally.

Article 3 also influences the investigation part of this lesson. This article included strategies to teach students remotely. It includes the key elements required by this investigation. This article helped me find an alternative method to teaching acids and bases. If students are irresponsible or not trustworthy the online simulation is an excellent alternative for the investigation of testing pH values.

Article 2 improves my knowledge and understanding of acids and bases. This article entails the misconceptions commonly associated with acids and bases by students. It has prepared and provided me with more information to be better able to answer questions and deliver the information to the children. All 3 articles combined allow for a deeper understanding of acids and bases for me as the teacher, and in turn the pupils.
