  • Oil Drum Drop: night parachute drop, to support an army that was being pushed back into the sea, and were able to successfully retaliate
  • Operation Neptune: moved to the UK to prepare for liberation, airborne invasion of Normandy. Although many lives were lost, every mission was accomplished and they held their ground
  • Battle of the Bulge: December 19, 1944, the largest battle fought by the Americans but, held a strong defensive

  • Gen. Maxwell Taylor commanded the 101st Airborne Division on D-Day and later was the Army chief of staff and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
