Child Abuse stems from vows of Celibacy

A research was done about priests who are celibate as the reason they indulge in these crude acts and what they found is as follows: "as someone who has been warning the church about the sexual-abuse problem since 1986, I insist that it is intolerable antiCatholic bigotry to blame the present crisis of sexual abuse of young people by priests on celibacy." (Greeley, 1)

"I think it is discouraging to many older priests that we aren't more like them, but we have more in common with them than one might think. It is true that we often read different authors, pray in different styles, have different heroes, and emphasize different doctrines, but we celebrate the same sacraments, preach the same gospel, and share the same priesthood" (Ference, 1) People don't want to accept that their are different priests on there today and so they will become accused (wrongfully) of breaking their vows because they don't speak, preach and conduct themselves as other priests before them did.
