The sound assessment method will be useful in identifying the skills of our students. In addition to that, we should use many approaches in phonics instruction. Some ideas I could use for my future teaching include the use of sand trays and dry erase boards. As a pre-service teacher, I often find myself wondering how I will get this valuable knowledge about actual content when a majority of classes don’t focus on curriculum itself. Some of my favorites were the sand activity and the word building. I liked how a lot of them would work for multiple grade levels. I also was appreciative of the phonics test so that we can meet the students where they are. I liked these activities because it allows me to use many different methods to help teach my student's phonics. Having multiple activities to use will help meet all of the needs of the students who will struggle in my future classroom.
