Despite my anxiousness, I was tasked late last year with something that was out of my specialisation - Project Management. It was a request I had raised with my manager earlier during our 1-to-1 sessions as I wanted to hone my skills which she confidently delegated to me thereafter . As I was always involved in the later stages of planning, I possessed minimal skills and knowledge. I was overwhelmed at first when I did not know what to do. Later part, I realised that the key was to break down each step and to segment out my priorities so that I could branch out the solutions and steps to proceed from there. Using a step-by-step approach would better organise my tasks and hence a clearer view of what needs to be done.

user.99@shopee.com

There was a time when one of my teammates received quite a challenging project. It was a communication contest that encouraged employees to share their stories regarding the workplace, but it had been a week and there was still no submission.

As the deadline was approaching, we knew we had to do something as a team player. We sat down and did some brainstorming and researching on what was stopping people. After the meeting, we came up with 3 pain points and decided to tackle them one by one.

First, we spent some time writing and submit our own stories, and encouraged our friends to do the same, which later inspired more people to participate as they found ideas or examples from our stories along the way. People are more likely to do what others do.

Then, we tried to send out more communications with a focus on incentives because communications could get lost easily if there were too many, especially during busy weeks with a lot of important stuff going on like that period.

Finally, we figured that the biggest reason people didn’t participate was that the contest was not in our native language. Quickly we sent out an unofficial communication to offer translation for those who wished to participate in their native language.

As a result, we received many more submissions, and the project met its goals. This also strengthened our bonds and amplified the supportive atmosphere we long built for our team.

hamy.letran@shopee.com

I received a message at 10 pm from team Comm on Friday night saying plans have changed, they need to support shout-out the video for celebs and need it by next Monday, this is very important. Is it possible to arrange and support as a PMO? My team's camera man got covid F0, couldn't go shoot shout out for the celebs in live show March 14th, so I immediately contacted my leader, connected with the producer, made a rental quote I have a freelancer outside to support filming, then I texted the editor, worked with him overtime to help edit the clip on MONDAY to be done before 2pm so that I could send the working file to the TV station on time. We are dedicated to "SERVE", agile, find quick solutions "ADAPT" and RUN support each other" COMMIT", and I am very proud when the task is completed by 100% good spirit of my team, we always "STAY HUMBLE".

dong.nguyenthi@shopee.com
VIDEO PRODUCTION TEAM VIETNAM.
