a. This family moved to Singapore in order to avoid the large amount of competition in China due to it's large population, to avoid China's one-child policy that they had in place at the time, and because they preferred Singapore's less competitive education system.

b. They faced an language barrier as they almost exclusively spoke Mandarin, resulting in a lack of ability to communicate with primarily English-speaking Singaporeans.

c. They stayed because they had already set up a good business here and had already gotten used to living in Singapore with their children, who were born there.

a) Help to put together the annual Angkor Photo Festival and Workshops in Siem Reap, the province known for the Angkor Wat ruins.

b) The marketplace was quite unforgiving to local photographers. There were lots of barriers to entry.

Mr Zhang(53) is a Chinese man who left his home country China, to get a better life by going to Singapore. Which eventually found a wife in university Ms Xu(45), and have 3 children. He describes that he is slowly trying to forge bonds with the locals and the amount of stress that comes along when he first arrived. Their children are born in Singapore, they are closely connected to the Chinese heritage and meets the other family members for an extended two weeks after Chinese New Year.

They felt homesick. They are willing to move to another country away from their friends and families to live a better life and to have a better job opportunity to make more money to support themselves and so that they can also send money back to their home country to help their families there
