It would be helpful in monitoring patients with COVID-19 because this would provide continuous oxygen saturation levels. In my hospital when we were a COVID unit, we did not have continuous oxygen monitoring and would only know our patients were desaturating when spot checking them or if they called because they were short of breath. This device could also help in monitoring patients blood pressures that are constantly changing. I work on an observation unit and we do not have any means of continuous monitoring. Occasionally, I get a patient whose blood pressure is either slowly going down or up. This device would be helpful in continuously monitoring blood pressure instead of having to keep going in the patients room and waking them up to spot check their blood pressure. The only downfall of this device is there needs to be more research to see if the measurements are accurate. The device also provides rapid alerts of any abnormal readings. According to Caretaker Medical, the device can be worn while in the hospital and then even taken home for more monitoring.
