Strategic Use of This Area-Erik

The use of the are was less strategic, but more it was just a last stand for Hitler and his forces. It was intended by Hitler to be a back door into France, rather then just charging head on into battle with the Allied forces. At this point Hitlers forces and resources were dwindling and he needed a way to get back into this was. His intent was to make a "bulge" in the line of the Allied forces by going through the Ardennes Forest and try to create an advantage from there.

Website-http://www2.needham.k12.ma.us/nhs/cur/Baker_00/03/baker-rh-03-p6/battleofthebulge.htm

Citation:

"Battle of the Bulge." Battle of the Bulge.

Zac Frana

The battle of the Bulge was significant because the Germans lost far more units than they could afford. The Germans total MIA, KIA, and WIA were over 44,000. As well as losing too many men, the Germans also lost too many vehicles and weapons to replace.

This was also seen as Hitlers last major offensive in the war. After the battle was lost, the Ally forces started to push back into German controlled territory.

"Results and Signifcants." World History 2 Battle of the Bulge.
