         <description><![CDATA[<p>Main Idea: the US offered opportunities for immigrants to come and start a new life</p><p>Supporting details:</p><p>The United States, with it's growth of industry, offered jobs and economic opportunities for immigrants</p><p>Faster, better ships made it easier for people to come to the country</p><p>Many people of other countries were forced into a religion or had forceful dictators and the US offered them freedom</p><p>Many people born in lower social classes came to the country where states gave them the same opportunities as everyone else</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Summary:</p><p>       Expansions in industry brought about major changes such as the rise of labor movements and women's organizations.</p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">Supporting Deatils:</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">1. In times of economic hardships, workers wages were cut and machines became more dangerous to operate. Unions protested these working conditions.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">2. Women focused on being good consumers, although they were removed from the production, they focused their lives on buying products.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">3. Working hours were 10 to 15 hours a day for 6 days. Workers got tired resulting in less production of goods.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">4. At this time, no government programs were made to protect workers from being injured and or constantly fired.      </span></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Summary: After the Civil War, the country decided to improve industrial methods and create jobs for incoming immigrants that would work for less.</p><p>1. The country made jobs for immigrants with the idea that they would work for a lot less, causing them to save money.</p><p>2. New forms of factory organization, which allowed businesses owners to achieve economics of scale.</p><p>3. Industrial profits rose. Expansion of transcontinental railroads occurred.</p>]]></description>
