Assassination of Franz Ferdinand (June 28, 1914)

Archduke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were assassinated by the shots of a Serbian nationalist. This occurred when they were on their way to Bosnian Capital of Sarajevo. And so this triggered the beginning of one of history's most memorable and impactful war.

Trench warfare (September 6, 1914)

apposing teams counterattacked and used Trenches as an advantage. Trenches are dug up ditches in the ground by troops able to serve as more of a shield but limiting the soldiers ability to move around. Trenches were able to contain platoons beholding up to a dozen men. Troops couldn't leave so they would eat, sleep, use the restroom and have to stay there even with hurrid climate.

Battle of Marne (September 6-12, 1914)

Starts of by Germany invading Paris, France. Following with a mischievous and deliberate plan to win this war within 40 days.

Sinking of Lusitania (May 7, 1915)

Lusitania, a British ocean liner where construction took almost 2 years to complete. Its destruction was by the Germans U-boat, submarine. This lead to many lives being lost, leaving the public with multiple negative opinions and ugly looks regarding Germany. this sparked and outrage to WWI.

Battle of Somme (July 1-November 13, 1916)

A battle in WW1 involving German, British and a few French armies. The few French armies that were involved were fighting along side the British against the German. July first was when it started and is know for being one of most blood shedding days at this time. Boths sides also ended with crucial casualties.

Battle of Verdun (February 21-December 18, 1916)

A battle of French and German armies against each other. This battle was one of the most damaging to economies, environments, and society. Both sides that went against each other in the war suffered from major casualties. The French using multiple defense strategies. German armies strategy was to inflict as much damage to the French. Lasted 10 months.

Zimmerman Telegram (April 6, 1917)

The Zimmerman Telegram was a coded message sent by Germany to Mexico in hopes for an alliance to declare war against the US. But the message got intercepted and decoded by the British intelligence. "Zimmerman" was German Official.

Woodrow Wilson and 14 points (April 6, 1917)

Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President in the Unites States. He was know for leading his citizens through WWI with honor and loyalty. The 14 points was made by him. 14 points was a deliberation spoken by Woodrow Wilson in hopes to lead for peace concerning WWI.

Armistice (November 11, 1918)

An armistice is basically 2 or more parties trying to find peace after multiple disagreements. And in this case, it was trying to prevent WWI from continuing hoping Germany and the British would stop the War and find peace or an end to it. This day is now declared Armistice day committing to honor the casualties of lost lives and honor those who served, along with declaring an end to WWI. Germans deemed the losing side.

Treaty of Versailles (June 28, 1919)

This was practically an official peace treaty signed in June 28, 1919 regarding WWI finally coming to an end. President Woodrow Wilson participated a lot to this peace treaty. this document also established the League of nations mainly focusing on trying to prevent future wars and battles. Germany was harshly punished for all the damage done in WWI.
