Vowel Valley

I think this is noteworthy because the teacher chose to have a vowel valley in her classroom instead of a word wall. This is beneficial for learning because it shows the different ways that vowel sounds can be pronounced and provides a visual representation of the mouth movements. I would use this is my classroom as a resource for vowel sounds.

Consonant Wall

The classroom also has a consonant wall, which shows the sounds consonants can make along with visual examples of words that start with each of the consonants. I think this is noteworthy because it's a good resource for students to have when learning about soft /c/ and /g/ as well as silent letters and digraphs. It also has visual representations of the mouth movements, which can be helpful for struggling students. I would use this in my classroom as a resource to show the different digraphs and silent letters.

Each student has assigned bins to keep grade-appropriate books for read to self time. I think this is noteworthy because having read to self books allows students to explore and read new books on their own level. I would use this resource in my classroom as a way to encourage reading for fun.

Daily Schedule

The daily schedule is posted in the classroom, I think this is noteworthy because having a consistent routine in place provides structure for the students and reduces undesirable behavior. Having it posted for students to see allows students to learn the daily routine and activities. I plan to have a daily schedule posted in my classroom.

Calming Corner

I think this is noteworthy because calming corners are good behavior management strategies. They allow students who are displaying undesirable behavior to privately take a moment, process their emotions, and regulate them. I plan to have a calming corner in my classroom so my students have a place to sit quietly when they need it.

In this spot of the classroom, the teacher has her expectations for the students posted. I think this is noteworthy because this helps students know what is expected of them. I would this strategy in my classroom so my expectations are clearly set and my students know what I expect from them.
