In our week 1 we were asked to create a piece of art using plants and nature. By doing so I rearranged my art many times trying to think of what kind of message I wanted to convey about my environment. I ended up placing my arrangement in the order that it was outside. The purple flower next to the leaves the pink flower next to the long green grass and the dead leaves that were on the grass. This organised piece created a sense of order which reflected the environment as it was an apartment complex so the environment and nature was very neat and organised. Furthermore, by completing this task students have the opportunity to think about their surrounding environment and to appreciate it. Creating this piece of art in a classroom allows for boundless amounts of creativity and even opportunities for collaboration. When creating this artwork, I felt emotional as it made me really think about my environment and where I was and the beautiful nature that surrounds us, I also felt sightly overwhelmed as there were endless ways to organise my piece of art. I applied my learning in the classroom I aided in by discussing with the children, there is endless ways to draw and create pieces of art and to never stop on the first try and to persist with creativity and follow that path and see where it takes you.

For this week’s art portal, we were asked to create art with recycled items. I designed my artwork using different food packaging and other cardboard boxes and a plastic cylinder shape chip container. The message I'm trying to deliver with this artwork, is the sheer volume of rubbish we throw out every day. By designing and cutting it expresses beauty, highlighting one man’s trash is another's treasure. By having all different packaging all crowded it illustrates a feeling of clutter and business this further conveys the message of a massive amount of everyday things we throw out. By using recyclable products, this artwork is expressing sustainability, highlighting the rubbish we throw out can indeed have more than one use and can be used for multiple purposes even something displayed beautifully. This art work, similarly to last week, made me emotional, as I thought about the amount of things we throw out and just disregard rather than having multiple purposes for one thing. By creating this artwork, it allows to think about the sustainability process and how we can contribute to help. By using recycled products, I began to understand just how much we use every day without thinking.

I decided not to add audio as I couldn't quite figure out. This week we were asked to create a stop motion movie of our artworks we previously created. I really enjoyed playing around I ended up creating a movie with my focus being on the volume of rubbish we collect every day. By using different angles it allows different aspects of the artwork to be seen. I closed it up and then opened trying to demonstrate the message of a bin being opened, it almost looked like treasure inside, highlighting that not all rubbish only has one use. To use this task in the classroom could become very interactive having students collaborate together and involving parents and encouraging them to bring recyclable boxes in. This task has the opportunity for students to extend their knowledge in the media and visual arts allowing creativity to take the lead as they design their artwork and movies whilst also developing their knowledge on sustainability. Furthermore, by showing the creating process it highlights the creativity and different ways on looking at things, different people view different things, and if we think about it we can create art out of anything even just packaged food boxes!

This week we had to respond music through creating art on paper. The piece of music I found soothing and as I kept listening to it I noticed all the changing back ground music. This music made me feel calm and serene, however, some of the back ground music was fast paced, hence the dots. By painting the waves, I was representing the ongoing sense of waves rolling over. I used the light pink paint as I found it had a sense of beauty relating to the music. When I was creating the art, I just listened and let the paint brush and pen go along with the rhythm.

I used the artwork starry night. It was so engaging, once I figured how to record audio. Looking at this artwork, it was so peaceful, and the colours used delivered such a message, which was for me, the ocean and swimming. When diving deeper into the picture and losing myself in it, I found I heard piano, guitar, waves and soft sounds. I felt overwhelemd as well because there are so many different directions the paint is going on. Really thinking about the artwork made me realise the opportunities for creativity during this activity for students, the music they might choose/create, the artwork, the response to the artwork.

I chose to do my dance on the native Australian mammal, the koala. I was a bit stumped in the beginning but after doing research it was clear koalas are simple, quiet and mostly lazy animals. I decided to use nature music as my background to create the effect as if I was in the forest, similar to koalas. By walking on all fours at the beginning, it was my entering as the koala. I s basing my dance off a curious and young koala who just found a new plant to eat. My dance moves were the koala stretching and eating the leaves. When completing the dance, it made me think about the solemn life of a koala, the slow movements, the quiet and peace. I thought about how I could improve my dance, maybe more different moves, scratching or the hugging motion of the tree. This was a great activity to reflect on and think about endangered animals and how they live.
