Have two teams with two team leaders instead of one big HART team. Would make it easier to keep track of teams/welfare. Also more realistic to the size of live HART teams.

In the event of protracted FRS USAR activities (breaching, setting up systems), have a manikin/limb set aside to bring into play for HART operatives waiting around (e.g. an arm hanging out of rubble, steering the candidate to think about viability - using ECG dots and subsequent rhythm to justify not committing to treatment/rescue. Or any other easy to run scenario that's relevant to USAR and keeps the candidate engaged with learning from the course).

Having TLs come down to manage smaller teams to allow for more NARU staff to facilitate the exercise

Didn’t feel particularly involved in what was going on

CCP could have been properly set up to give those who were standing around something to do

More Facilitators so it could feel less chaotic, Stuart was doing about 7 jobs

Usar were told to slow down as they were being too effective which then felt unrealistic

Real life usar patients don’t instantly start abusing the ambulance service and screaming for help. It’s eerily silent

Keep the groups in Alpha and Bravo

Have two separate TLs

Split the area as to where each team will go and search/treat casualties. Will be easier to coordinate and update external services as to what is happening.

this allows the teams to swap over and experience the areas they covered

Too much radio chat due to large groups.

Have someone actually controlling the confine space tallies

Have an CP area set. Doesn’t have to be manned just an area.

Make sure your instructors are trained in how to teach so that they don’t just beast people for no reason.

Appreciate that sometimes you just have volunteers to come and help.

But if one is specifically difficult perhaps they should receive some help and learning before coming back.

This has the foundations for a brilliant two day hardcore exercise.

But you need trainee logistics, trainee TL’s etc etc.

utilise people like SARAID to come and help in a way that will improve joint working instead of it becoming an FRS based day.

Stu and the team (- one) were really good and obviously put their all in.
