<Based viewpoint originated in the movie industry structure>

Moving forward, we can see some progress happening. This year, we have seen black directors working outside the studios, creating films such as 13th and I Am Not Your Negro. It is rare that non-studio films like these would have been as successful as these were in the past, and it provides a sense of optimism to see that this is possible. These films are able to raise awareness of racial issues that we face and have faced in the United States, which is important, as awareness is a key step in making a change. There are also large budget films such as Hidden Figures, which addresses the problem of racism straight on. As producers become more aware of the need for more diversity in film, this can provide more opportunities for minorities to have roles in film, which demonstrates that film can be as a “democratic art." The companies do have to listen to those who are buying the tickets to make a profit, and if people continue to see films where minorities are represented, they will continue to be made. We need critics as well as producers off-screen who are not white, or we will only have white people discussing race and presenting minorities from their perspectives, even if they do allow minorities to have lead roles in their films. To change this, we need to work on adding diversity to the institutions.

One last important issue we need to be aware of moving forward is allowing for optimism amongst minorities. We need to celebrate diverse heroes, as Hidden Figures does well, celebrating African-American women instead of celebrating more contributions of white men. Although these were times of oppression and many injustices, this optimism is especially poignant at this moment and is needed during the problems that our society faces now in regards to race and many other issues.

-'Minority Representation In Film & Media' ODYSSEY.COM

<MINORITY REPRESENTATION IN THE MEDIA>

There are two main topics that I would like to treat in this major. The first is the biased view of the minorities resulting from the limited film' industrial structure, limited producers, and limeted characters. If the filmmakers or the critics is limited like the white guy of the preceding article, then of course, the movies will lose diversity. The more people hold a camera and the more people with various looks and features move one's heart in films, the more diverse the world will be.
The second thing I want to tell is the ethics that should be observed when expressing a story, especially when it comes to expressing the story of peole in the position of the weak in society.
There were a lot of videos that I saw earlier, which expressed the mentally ill, the disabled, the women, the minorities (like '괜찮아 사랑이야). Movies affect people in one way or another. filmmakers can decide whether the film gives the audience a biased view or helps the audience break down walls of prejudice.

<The example of media changing public perception>

This drama introduces patients with various mental illnesses and shows their daily lives. Nowadays, menntal illnesses such as trauma and depression are not rare symptoms. Perhaps the metally ill are no loger a 'minority'. However, negative perception of mental illness continues. For examplem, people who are suffering from depression deny the fact that he is caught in mental disorder. The media that changes this perception was this drama '괜찮아 사랑이야'. It shows the daily lives of patients of various diseases and personalities and gives the new perception that such diseases are just one of their many characteristics. The process in which the main characters Jae-yeol and Hae-su console each other's trauma and ultimately overcome their own illnesses is like a advice for us who are frowning at mental illness

Also, '괜찮아 사랑이야' suggests a way to look at something with an unbiased eye as in the quotes. Prenjudice is common to all people, such as 'Everyone who does unusual things is strange.' or 'Good people don't hurt others.'. By this conversation, Hae-su can recognize her implicit bias and heal the patient in right way. This drama doesn't just give hasty sympathy and compassion to the mentally ill, but gives understanding and respect to them.

<How to express minorities in movies>

A good movie is a movie that has a good influece on the audience. Filmmakers must be really careful when presenting a story, especially when it comes to stories of socially weak people. First, film should be made after a genuine understanding of them. Second, their stories should not be treated as a mere show. Exaggerated descriptions of them or over-drama may have dramatic effects, but they are great hurts to 당사자들. The social effects that a movie will bring are very positive if it keeps these points well. Movies are a media with enormous power to bring about social support for the weak and to induce changes in public perception.
