In 1874, I created a series of articles called "Studies in the Sierra" which launched my career as a writer. I left the mountains and lived for a while in Oakland, California. After I took many trips, which led to my famous explorations of Glacier Bay.

I was very personally involved in the creation of Sequoia, Mount Rainier, Petrified Forest, and Grand Canyon national parks. I don't mean to brag, but I was sometimes called "Father of Our National Park System ". 🥳

Here are some parks I was involved in creating! I love my work! Yosemite in 1890, Sequoia in 1890, Mount Rainier in 1899, and Grand Canyon in 1908. Not bragging... I helped establish thirteen forest reserves!!! 🏔🥳
