This object is an image of an apparent ghost looking at a couple dancing. Looking at this image skeptically, one could say that this image was Photoshopped to make the appearance of the place being haunted; however; many belief that it is authentic proof. A reason for belief for this image of a haunted house is patternicity. The ghost in this image could just be a few objects, dust particles, and a smudge on the camera making it look like there is a pattern of a ghost. A red flag for this image is ideological support. Many believe in haunted houses and ghosts because of their religious beliefs, making this image appear real to them. As said above, it is hard to know for sure about this image because it could have easily been edited to appear this way.

This is a photograph taken in the inside of a building that shows a blurring figure that some believe to be is a ghost in a haunted place (in the red circle). A reason for belief for this image could be simplicity. There could be a rational scientific explanation for why there looks to be a figure in the back, however, it is easier to rationalize it as a ghost. A red flag would be ideological support as explained in the other images. A limitation with this image is that it could have been easily manipulated to make the appearance of a ghost haunting the building. Another limitation is that it could just be a smudge on the lens of the camera. It is very hard to prove that images of hauntings are real due to today's technology.

This is an image of a restaurant called Jesters Court in Port Perry, the town I live in, that many believe is haunted. This place has apparently been haunted for years and there are lots of stories about it. A reason for belief that this place is haunted is the unexplained. People hear noises and see figures that are not explainable which causes them to believe. There is no scientific proof of haunted houses being real, so people try to explain it themselves. I am unsure of a red flag that is demonstrated with this object other than ideological support which has already been explained in Image 1. People believe that this restaurant is haunted because of their culture and religion. It is very hard to prove that this place is haunted because only a few people claim to have witnessed the ghosts and they tell their story. There is no way of knowing if they are just making it up or exaggerating a creek in the floor from an old building. This makes the source of the information pretty unreliable.

This object is a website that has an article about some houses that are haunted and why they are haunted. It explains some stories of what has happened in the houses. A reason for belief for this website is ideology. When people read all of the stories of what happened in these houses, they could set some expectations and ideas in their mind of how it must be haunted because of the history. This could happen because of the ideas that movies can put in peoples minds about haunted houses. A red flag is the confusion of correlation with causation. Because murders or other tragic events happen in these houses now means that they are haunted. This isn't necessarily true because it is not proven that one causes the other.

This website has an article that someone wrote about their experience in a haunted house that they had lived in. A reason for belief for this is the unexplained. Haunted houses have not been scientifically proven to be true. For this reason, the things that were happening to this person must be rationalized as a ghost haunting the house because society doesn't know what they can actually do, or if they even do exist. This article isn't a very reputable source because it is just a story of ones experience being told over the internet. This experience could very well be made up or heavily exaggerated. There is no proof of what the person is describing. The person who wrote this article could have just made it up to gain some sort of internet fame. One cannot believe that haunted houses are real from this one article because there is nothing backing it up.

This object is an article talking about why people believe in ghosts and haunting houses, and why ghosts are not real. it states that almost 40% of Americans believe in haunted houses. This article brings up some reasons for belief. One being an emotional connection. People believe in ghosts and haunted houses because they do not want to believe that their beloved and deceased family and friends are gone. A red flag that this article brings up is that the idea of ghosts came from an ancient time and this alone makes people believe in them. This red flag is ancient wisdom; however, it is illogical to think that ancients had more knowledge than we do now. This article also talked about how "ghost hunters" use scientific equipment to see or catch ghosts; however, this equipment has not once proven to be effective in catching a ghost in a haunted house.

This object is a video of a film crew that went into a haunted house that they had heard about and got attacked by a ghost. The lady that owns the house also talks about her ghost encounters while living there. A reason for belief in this video is perception and observation. The man in the video could have had the scratch before he went into the house without noticing but then just notice it after the home owner said that the ghost had scratched her. Another reason for belief is patternicity. the shadows could have easily been from anything but gave the appearance of it being a ghost. also the orbs they saw by the stairs could've just been dust particles or blurs on the camera itself. This video isn't a great source to believe because, with today's technology, it could have easily been manipulated to show ghost like shadows.

This is a video of a woman recording a ghost haunting her house and moving objects in her house. A reason for belief in this video is agenticity. She believes that there is an invisible agent in her house, a demon, who is moving stuff around. There is also the reason for belief of simplicity. When watching this video, there are explanations other than it being a ghost; however, it being a ghost is the simplest explanation so it is the one that people will believe. Another explanation is that this lady has the light attached to a string and someone is swinging it without them being in the view of the camera. She could have made it appear as if there is a ghost haunting her house for internet fame. Video's can be easily manipulated which makes them not be a reputable source for information on this topic.

This is a video being recorded by a man which shows objects being flung around his house giving the appearance of a haunted house. A reason for belief in this video is simplicity, same as explained in the last video. Another reason for belief is the unexplained. The things going on in this video are very hard to explain so people will rationalize it as a haunted house which has also not yet been explained. As explained in the last object, video's can be easily edited to make it look like an invisible being is causing these items to move, therefore this is not a creditable source.
