Depression is a serious mental illness, I know a lot of people including my friend Maryam who have been struggling with it for a long time. Maryam is an excellent student, she always kept her studies as her top priority. Unfortunately, Maryam’s mom passed away, which had a significant impact on Maryam’s mental health, it caused her a lot of pain and made her break down mentally for quite a while. Maryam had to isolate herself at first as a coping mechanism, but that sadly led it to be a constant habit. She kept herself isolated and lost interest in pretty much everything she used to enjoy doing most everything, especially studying, she used bad coping mechanisms to release her pain and stress, she kept self-harming and stayed in her room all the time, which put her in a dark place. Maryam’s changing in behavior caught the attention of her tutor, her tutor also noticed some marks on her hands due to self-harm, so she decided to do something about it. She talked to Maryam’s dad and he sat down with her and tried to understand what was going on. They agreed to get Maryam the proper help and therapy she needs. Once Maryam started to get therapy, she noticed how bad is her condition, and how she never really meant to self-harm as she only wanted to release her pain somehow but all the negativity had taken over her mind and made her do stuff she didn’t notice. After a while of therapy and using a medication, Maryam got a lot better and went back to her usual self and to being that excellent student she used to be. That was my best friend Maryam's depression story and how did she got treated.

Fatemah almutairi
ID:60167
