  • Called the Preterite.
  • Used to talk about a completed action in a time before now. 
  • The time of the action can be in;    -The recent past / the distant past.  The action duration is not important.

    • FORMING THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE.

    • Verb end in 'e' add 'd'.
    ex: serve - served, lie - lied, live- lived.
    • Consonanat +'y' change to 'i' + ed.
    ex: clarify - clarified, verify - verified, repair - repired.

    • One vowel + one consonant
    • (but NOT w or y) | Double the consonant, then add - ed.
    ex: tap - tapped,commit -  committed,

    • Ex: they meet, I realize, you pray

  • Used at the end of the sentence or question.
  • The most common are: tomorrow, next week (Sunday/month/year), in two days (weeks, months years), the day after tomorrow.

    • FORMING THE SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE.
    will + [root form of verb].
    • Ex: I will go to library tomorrow, They will finish the assignment next week.
