I love the idea of an author spotlight display. We have lots of local authors come in for book talks and readings, and we often do a feature of their works. When that isn't happening, it would be nice to feature other YA authors.

One of my goals in rearranging the library was to have more areas for students to work in small groups. I like this arrangement, where large groups could theoretically sit, but the tables are also spaced out enough for smaller groups to work without being disrupted. The proximity would also make it ideal for teachers coming in still needing to supervise their small groups.

While this is a little brighter/more modern than I see for my library, the comfortable seating is a MUST! I never thought of using ottoman-style seating, but this could definitely work! I also like all of the shorter bookcases. Visibility is a huge problem in my library, so bookshelves you can see over is the direction we are headed.

This is the type of furniture I am hoping for in my library. I think it is crucial to have comfortable furniture in the library (mine currently has none), and I like the way these are arranged around a central coffee table. I can imagine students studying or doing small group work in these comfortable chairs.

As a high school librarian, I am always looking for ways to display books that don't feel too cliche or juvenile. High schoolers still want and need ways to find new materials, but I want it to be at their level. This simple color organization is perfect -- and it adds so much color!

I LOVE the idea of displaying student-made ceramics on top of shelves. Typically, we just place more book displays on top of shelves, but displaying student work is way better. Not only does it represent our student body, but it may entice students in who may not otherwise come in -- they want to see their art or their friends art on display!

I am a total plant lady, and honestly most of my students are plant-people also. We have some gigantic live plants in our library, and when I started talking about remodeling that was the one thing students ALWAYS commented on -- "you have to keep the plants!" Currently, they are all arranged in one giant cluster, but I am going to move them to be interspersed throughout the library, especially in student-work areas. They bring such a homey feel to the library.

Given that our libraries are more than just storehouses for books, I really like the idea of having this central set up of technology. I've never thought about putting our iPads out on display like this (mostly because of the security issues), but the accessibility here feels really good, and it is something students would undoubtedly benefit from.

Highlighting them in a way that also involves creating something myself would be very eye-catching, and I think would definitely increase circulation.
