Maybe even two class meetings per week. I think he would have started off with some kind of survey on whatever he was teaching, he would assess each students foundational knowledge and then build from there. Teaching a concept that some students may be familiar in, demonstrating how to do it, and then having them actively figure out what to do. Students need support and positive feedback to help them actively learn. I also love using examples of personal stories/experiences and how it relates to the material. For example, we were talking about fear associated with Halloween in a 10th grade class in which we were reading how fear affects the mind. I asked students for examples of how they related to Halloween and fear. One student recounted a story about how they broke their foot on Halloween, and how they will never forget the experience because of being scared, in pain, and what day it was. They related this story in their analysis summaries.
